This Bardstown Bourbon Company Single Barrel may say Southern Spirits on the label, but around here, we know the real name: “Cherry Vanilla Pipe Dream.”
Bardstown no longer allows culinary names on single barrel labels, but once you taste this barrel, the nickname makes perfect sense. It opens with a beautiful cherry wood chip nose, then moves into a rich palate of cherry, vanilla, sweet oak, and warm bourbon depth.
The finish is where that signature Bardstown character really shows up, bringing notes of tobacco, leather, baking spice, and lingering oak. It is layered, balanced, and incredibly enjoyable from start to finish.
At almost 7 years old and 118.8 proof, this barrel has plenty of structure and flavor, but the wild part is how easy it drinks. It comes across much closer to a 90 proof pour, making it dangerously approachable for a barrel-strength selection.
If you love Eagle Rare for that signature cherry note, this is absolutely a bottle you should pay attention to.
