After a long break, Jefferson’s Reserve is back in the Southern Spirits single barrel lineup — and this is exactly the kind of barrel worth coming back for.

About a decade ago, we selected more Jefferson’s barrels than almost any other whiskey, but over time those opportunities became much less frequent. We even had a great barrel get lost along the way. Now, we’re finally back on track — and this bottle is a strong reminder of why we loved picking Jefferson’s in the first place.

We named this barrel “Whiz Bang” because it moves fast from start to finish. Right out of the gate, you get big baking spice, then it quickly opens into fruit, before finishing with a bold, savory note of leather.

This is not just another sweet bourbon. It has character, movement, and depth — the kind of bottle that makes you stop and take notice. For fans who appreciate a more savory, complex bourbon profile, this one is a great change of pace.

The yield on this barrel was unfortunately low, but when the quality is this good, the answer is always yes.
